Environmental evaluation of a self-compacted clay based concrete with natural superplasticizers

Cement concrete is the most widely used construction material worldwide due to its favourable mechanical characteristics. However, it responsible for 8% of total carbon emissions in world, which are generated mainly during production clinker. Due that fact, finding alternatives cement some applications not strictly needed should be a priority. In this study, self-compacted clay-based with natural superplasticizers based on tara tannins presented. The main objective study determine if can sustainable alternative conventional as component structural slabs. methodology divided into two parts. First, self-compacting clay characterized properties. Secondly, comparative Life Cycle Assessment conducted difference between impacts by one square meter and concrete. characterization showed suitable building elements such slabs while avoiding energy consumption produce environmental impact results using instead cement-based decreases 90% 80% overall impact.
